Presentation Abstract: |
US Marine started down the path toward a new manufacturing system in 2005 utilizing the Toyota approach to Lean Manufacturing. Kaizen events were used to develop Value Stream Maps and Mini-Business cells on the manufacturing floor.
This presentation will cover the Pipestone Minnesota plant’s roadmap to Continuous Improvement. Pipestone uses innovative processes for applying Lean tools on the assembly line where rate / model mix and options change frequently. |
About the Company: |
US Marine started as Advanced Marine in 1955 as a retail dealership near Seattle Washington. To supply the need for the growing business they started manufacturing and marketing boats under the name Bayliner.
In 1971 the company was renamed Bayliner Marine Corporation. By 1980 the company decided to get out of the retail side of the business and concentrate on manufacturing. In the early 1980’s the company purchased Chrysler Outboard Division and Escort Trailer Corporation. In 1986 Blue Fin Industries was added to form US Marine Corporation. In December of 1986 Brunswick Corporation purchased US Marine and a new era began as part of the Brunswick family.
Today US Marine is a multi-plant Manufacturing organization with production facilities across the US and Mexico. Their vision, energy and goals have remained the same: to build quality marine products, offering the best value in the market. |
