Value Stream Mapping

Learning to see the flow and waste

Workshop Code: MW-12

Day & Time: Monday, Oct 15, 2012 - 8:00 AM

Length: 8 hours

Cost: $300.00 USD

Value stream mapping provides the roadmap you need to direct your lean kaizen efforts. The process begins with understanding the flow of materials and information through your production processes. Mapping the current state of your value chain shows you where you should place your improvement efforts. This lets you avoid the mistake of cherry-picking improvement opportunities. Developing a leaner future state maximizes the benefits of your efforts by delivering greater value to your customers with lower total costs. If this sounds like something you could use, this workshop will show you how to put value stream mapping to use for your business.

In this workshop:

  • Learn what it means to become truly lean.
  • Articulate the benefits of value stream mapping.
  • Identify a product family and see the entire value stream for that family.
  • Draw and analyze a current state map to reduce waste and improve flow.
  • Draw a future state map.
  • Develop a basic implementation plan.
  • Take home knowledge that can make your business more successful.
