Cellular machining of large industrial equipment components
Acme manufactures highly-complex precision components for oil and gas, mining, rail and other industrial equipment. To do this effectively the company employs lean tools. During this tour you will see a new Acme manufacturing cell that establishes many benchmarks for the company's lean initiative. The lean principles and practices being applied include 1) Self-directed work teams responsible for process activities and daily support activities, 2) synchronized in-line flow that is geared to small lot flow, 3) application of 6S and visual workplace to control and simplify work processes, 4) application of poka-yoke practices, 5) early implementation of OEE on constraint equipment and 6) operating a 24/7 work schedule with teams working 12-hour shifts on a rotating 4-day schedule.
Lean is just theory until it's applied. On this tour you'll see just how much it can benefit a complex manufacturing process.
