How Do You Apply Lean to a 100-year-old Company?
The S&C Lean Performance System
In order to work well, lean needs to be integrated into your business structure. That's why S&C Electric Company developed its Lean Performance System (LPS), a collection of lean principles, tools and practices. LPS relies on a value vs. waste philosophy, lean-minded leaders, proven lean techniques and the people of S&C.
During this tour you will see how S&C Electric uses 1) 5S in everyday operations, 2) standardized work documentation, 3) supermarket-based pull systems, 4) a value- stream model where lean ideas are tested and evaluated, 5) an employee suggestion program, 6) visual KPI boards, 7) leader standard work tools and 8) TPM to improve machine reliability. S&C employees talk about how LPS has improved their processes. These are changes you will also want to consider for your business.
